Our Story

Authlete was founded in 2015 out of the struggle and frustration experienced by Takahiko (Taka) Kawasaki. While attempting to set up an OAuth authorization server for his web service, he quickly realized that existing solutions lacked the customization capabilities he needed and had overly complex architectures.

In response, Taka and Hideki Ikeda created Authlete, a simple, flexible, and straightforward backend service. Authlete allows developers to create, host, and run their authorization servers using any programming language and framework. Our solution gives developers complete control over their architecture and user interface, enabling them to concentrate on building their services.

Leadership

Our senior leaders bring their expertise in OAuth and OpenID Connect standards, digital identity, access management, and digital service development to Authlete. We actively contribute to developing open standards through the OpenID Foundation and others.
